Grace Hopper Celebration 2018

Women@SCS took 40 students to the 2018 Grace Hopper Conference, including 4 Grace Hopper Scholarship winners and 4 DataVisor scholars. The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing is the world's largest gathering of women technologists and was held from Wednesday, September 26 through Friday, September 28, in Houston, Texas.

W@SCS Alumnae Panel

We held a panel of 5 W@SCS alums from 5 different companies on October 2nd at 5pm in GHC 4405. The panel featured Alexandra Johnson from SigOpt, Margaret Schervish from APT, Jenny Liao from Google, Mopewa Ogundipe from Medium, Nivedita Chopra from Facebook.

Lenore Blum Resigns

Professor Lenore Blum resigned this past August, citing sexism in the workplace as the reason for her resignation. In this interview from NextPittsburgh, Lenore states that she wanted to take action to bring attention to this issue. She also describes the challenges that she and other female faculty members have faced.
