Interview Skills Workshop

Welcome to the Interview Skills Workshop!

The Women@SCS Interview Skills workshop was first hosted in Spring, 2009 thanks to a generous grant from Intel. This interactive workshop included tips for how to prepare for different types of interviews, how to answer interview questions, tips about negotiating, and more. It included personal anecdotes, an interactive "Speed Interviewing" activity, small group discussions, a negotation role playing activity, and plenty of opportunities for questions and discussion.

The workshop was run by undergraduate and graduate women in Carnegie Mellon's School of Computer Science. This created a great atmosphere that encouraged attendees to openly share questions, concerns, and advice about interviewing for industry and academic positions.

Student testimonial:
"I just had my job interview for a PhD position in the Netherlands. And they asked me some of the exact same questions that we practiced last week! I couldn't surpress a smile and was sooooo glad about having attended your workshop!!! Thank you so much! ...it was extremely helpful to be relaxed in the middle of the interview when they asked me those standard questions."

Due to the success of the first workshop, Women@SCS now offers it yearly or biyearly.
