Undergraduate Big Sister/Little Sister Program

Who are we?

The program matches first year women with sophomore, junior, or senior women with the goal of strengthening bonds between women in the CS community. The Big Sister/Little Sister relationship serves as an excellent way for first years to get to connect with someone whom they can go to for friendship, advice, and support. Big Sisters have an opportunity to mentor others and share their experiences and perceptions of computer science.

What do we do?

We organize some events to get prospective Big and Little sisters to get to know each other better. Then, based on preferences, we pair up each freshman with a Big Sister. We organize various events during the year to encourage the bigs and littles to bond together. The closeness and nature of the relationship is determined entirely by the Big and Little Sister.

How can you get involved?

The Big Sister/Little Sister Program matchings for the year 2013–2014 have been made.

We usually do this matching in September at the beginning of the new academic year. At any other time, please contact Elizabeth Davis or Nivedita Chopra (program coordinators) and we’ll see what we can do for you.
